Fault Management Techniques to Enhance the Reliability of Power Electronic Converters: An Overview

The reliability of power electronic converters is a major concern in industrial applications because using prone-to-failure elements such as high-power semiconductor devices and capacitors. Hence, designing fault-tolerant inverters has been great interest among researchers both academia industry over the last decade. Among three stages fault management, compensating most important challenging part. techniques for compensation can be classified into groups: hardware redundancy methods which use extra switches, legs, or modules to replace faulty parts directly indirectly, switching states are about omitting replacing impossible states, unbalance including compensate unbalances system caused by fault. In this paper, an overview presented. A classification demonstrated cases each its categories explained.
